Domestic violence and abuse
Do you think one of your friends is violent and/or abusive?
People have very strong feelings about violent or abusive people. If you have found out something about your friend, or seen them being violent, you might be feeling very angry towards them and shocked by their behaviour. But you should remember that judging your friend won't help.
- They need help to stop.
- The victim of the abuse (their brother, sister, boyfriend or girlfriend for example) could end up seriously hurt.
- Sometimes it takes somebody from the outside to help stop it.
What can you do?
First, you cannot solve the problem on your own. Abusive relationships are complicated and sometimes dangerous.
- Talk to your parents or an adult that you trust.
- Talk to your teacher.
- Talk to a professional at ChildLine on 0800 1111.
- You can also talk to us. Find out the best way to get in touch here.
